Tea With Patsy Clairmont
I have never quite managed to figure out why the books and teachings geared toward women are often sappy and uninspiring. Wordy, flowery tomes that are written with what seems to be the dutiful wife from the middle ages in mind have never been my cup of tea. I normally say they are stuck in the past..written with with my mother's, or grandmother's, generations as the target audience. In speaking with older generations, I find many of these ladies are quite bored with the same books as I. This sometimes causes women to purposely avoid books with covers that remind them of any such tome. I have been guilty of grouping authors into this category. Later, reluctantly agreeing to review their books, I have sometimes found my first impressions to be "spot on" while, at other times, I discovered the old adage can be very true, "One cannot always judge a book by its cover."
Patsy Clairmont, famed author and Women of Faith speaker wrote a beautiful, inspiring book which I previously reviewed. Stained Glass Hearts occupies its place next to my favorite Bible. It remains a choice I like to tuck into a gift bag with some tea and trinkets. While searching for books which might be appropriate for an upcoming book club, I found Tea with Patsy Clairmont. Unsure, I hesitantly ordered a copy from Amazon. Concise...a mere one hundred and ten pages...it contains Patsy's thoughts about the genteel art of tea. Within its pages, Patsy recounts times of inspirational and uplifting fellowship that she has shared over tea. In her eloquent fashion, she uses the tea parties to tie together loving lessons about God's love for us, His imperfect vessels. Included in the book are recipes, poetry, scripture and lovely photographs of some of Patsy's tea pot collection. Though I grasp our tastes change as we age, I have always enjoyed a good cup of tea, and admired the elegance of a well set table. Had it been written over twenty years ago, Tea With Patsy Clairmont would have been just as enjoyable to me as it is now. It would make a thoughtful gift when accompanied by a box of assorted teas.
Tea With Patsy Clairmont is available from online retailers such as Amazon.
