Dangerous Girl is the second in what looks to be an ongoing series featuring the powerful Tyler family. Freddie Tyler is a powerful mob boss in the underbelly of London. He’s in love with Anna, who, with her best friend, owns a popular pub in London. Freddie and his brothers, who help with his businesses, are on top of the game, and it seems no one can stop them. To Freddie, family is everything, and he considers Anna part of his family – someone to be loved and protected no matter what. However, when Ben Hargreaves, one of the most powerful politicians in London, discovers that his daughter has disappeared from one of Freddie’s establishments, Freddie and his brothers are given an ultimatum to find her or Freddie and Anna will be murdered. Hargreaves has the help of a cop who has a grudge against Freddie, and will stop at nothing to put him away.

One of the best things about Tallon’s writing is the excellent way she has developed her characters. Even though Freddie and his family are mob, they are the “good guys” throughout the book, and it is hard for readers to imagine them as anything but upstanding. There are twists and turns that cause the suspense to build, and it is very difficult to put the book down. Most readers aren’t familiar with the London mob, so the characters and scenarios are quite believable. From another point of view, Dangerous Girl is a love story between Freddie and Anna; it adds another dimension to the story. Anna, is not mob-connected, and although she is aware of the fact that her boyfriend may engage in illegal activities, she is squeaky clean with both her life and her business.

Dangerous Girl is a race against time, and a search to find perpetrators who seem not to exist. As the time runs out, Freddie’s actions cause Anna to suspect problems and their relationship may be changed forever. A fascinating and fast-moving novel for anyone who loves a good thriller.
